Some days, I just love what I do
What a remarkably beautiful day! I took a couple from Chicago on an art-deco tour of the city today. (Hi Nancy! Hi Bob!) We began in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and admired the Williamsburg Savings Bank, once (still?) the tallest building in Brooklyn. From there we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and over to the Bank of New York building. Looked at a couple of "lesser" examples of Art Deco/Art Moderne, then headed to Midtown for the smogasbord: The Daily News Building, the GE Building, the Chrysler Building, the Waldorf Astoria, the Paramount Building, Beekman Tower, and of course the Empire State Building.
By then we were all kind of tuckered out. We ate lunch at my favorite super-tasty, super-cheap spot on Ninth that I am not allowed to say because it's sort of "locals only," and why would tourists need me to guide them if I gave away all my secrets? Anyway, it was tasty. We headed on up to the Upper West and checked out the San Remo and the Eldorado and the Beacon Theater, then it was time to part.
What a glorious, sunny day! I wish I had brought my camera! Bob, send me those pictures, OK?
